1.      THE MANNING BROTHERS

Peyton and Eli Manning have certainly taken the legacy of their father Archie Manning and ran with it. Peyton Manning is an 11-time Pro Bowl and a 5 time First-Team All Pro. He is a 4-time MVP and he lead the Indianapolis Colts franchise in almost every single possible category prior to his move to Denver. He was the fastest to 50,000 yards and 4,000 completions. He is a proverbial genius on the field and will be one of the ten greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game of football.  Post-season success eluded him for a long time, but he finally won the big prize in 2006.

Eli Manning was the #1 pick in the 2004 NFL Draft after a trade between the San Diego Chargers and the New York Giants. Pressure was laid upon him immediately. Not only did he have to play in pressure-filled New York, he would have the extra-added pressure of living up to the legacy that Peyton Manning established. Add the fact that he had to live up to being in the same draft as Big Ben and Philip Rivers.

Eli Manning has boosted the Manning legacy. He has one more Super Bowl than Peyton. Furthermore, he has defeated Bill Belichick twice to win the Lombardi Trophy. He has broken some NFL records of his own. Last year, he broke the NFL record for most 4th quarter TD passes in a season. He also broke the record for most game-winning drives in a season as well as the most passing yards during a post-season. One can safely say that he is the best quarterback in Giants history. If he continues to put up solid numbers, there may be two Manning brothers in Canton, Ohio.

2.       THE KLITSCHKOS

The heavyweight division in boxing is as dead as a doorknob. The Klitschkos have dominated the division for nearly a decade now. These Ukranian brothers currently reside in Germany, where they are practically megastars. Vitaly Klitschko is 44-2 with 40 career knockouts and is the current WBC Heavywright Champion. He has the 2nd highest career knockout to fight ratio behind Rocky Marciano.

Wladimir Klitschko is 57-3 with 50 Knockouts. Wladimir currently has 5 championships. He has the WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO and the Ring Magazine heavyweight champion. What will the heavyweight division be like after they are gone?

3.      THE SHARPES

The Sharpes are another successful football duo. One brother is currently a Hall of Famer while another brother’s career was headed for the Hall of Fame before it was abruptly cut short.

Sterling Sharpe only played in the NFL for six years. However, he did make the Pro Bowl 5 times. He was also a 5-time All Pro. Sharpe led the NFL in receptions 3 times. He also led the league in receiving touchdowns twice. His career was cut short by a serious neck injury.

In 1992, Sterling Sharpe led the league in receptions, receiving yards and receiving TDS.

Shannon Sharpe is one of the greatest tight ends in NFL History. He is an eight-time Pro Bowl champion and is part of the 1990’s All-Decade team. He was the all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and TDs for a tight end until Tony Gonzalez would break all those records later. As an analyst, Sharpe is quick with the tongue. However, he was great on the field and that is why he was making a Hall of Fame speech last year.

4.      THE DIMAGGIOS

Joe Dimaggio has been mentioned many times in terms of baseball legends and in particular, Yankee legends. What more can be said about Joe Dimaggio. He was a thirteen-time All Star, a nine-time World Series champion. He is a three-time MVP. Joe Dimaggio holds the most elusive record in all of sports: His 56-game hitting streak. This streak may never be broken. It is amazing if a baseball player gets half-way to Dimaggio’s record. The “Yankee Clipper” had a career .325 batting average. His career was interrupted for a three-year span due to his choice to enlist in the military during World War II.

Vince Dimaggio’s career is not discussed much. However, he enjoyed a ten year career. Vince Dimaggio played for 5 different teams, including the New York Giants. He made the All-Star Game in 1943 and 1944. Vince Dimaggio also worked for a shipbuilding company during World War II.

While Joe Dimaggio was a career Yankee, his brother Dom Dimaggio was a career member of the Boston Red Sox. Dom Dimaggio played with the Red Sox for thirteen years. He is a seven-time All Star. Like his brother, he also has a tremendous consecutive hitting game record. His 34 game hitting streak is the current Red Sox club record. He was a career leadoff hitter that led the American League in runs twice. He finished his career with a batting average two points shy of .300
